The jewies have been on fire in my favourite spot near southbank. Tonight got one 85cm and one 90cm. Got both on live mullet about 10cm. Heaps of small prawns around too. I fish with 6lb braid. Been fishing the river for about 20 years and had some great fish. Threadies are good too but not as good as Jewies. Love to go up to Colleges and Kooka Park. Like to catch snub nosed gar (mini marlin) and use them as livies. Caught lots of Bass up there too in my younger days as well as Bullies. These days focus on close to the city and Newstead, and some other spots.

Should try norman park 4 some jewies too.... We managed a 86cm a while back along with some really solid bream all above 30cm. 1 lone threadie to about 47cm. Need to go back and try catch a few more?? Been spending the time down on the gold coast. Is winter a better time for the jew fish?
