so after stopping work around home ,i kept going to 3:30 pm to get bit more done .

mounted the nav lights and loaded up the trailer ,after finding my fishing gear .

all packed away in the shed ,all over the place .

since i have and couldn't use it for a bit .

so headed off at 4:30 pm ,but the time i stopped got my bro ,fuel bait etc ,we got down there at dark.

decided to scrap putting in at the bridge and headed around to the boat ramp at the mouth .

much nice to put in with light and flat solid ground under our feet.

so went to the mouth and fished the sand flats till 2 hrs after high tide .

no flathead action, but got a few whiting .

some where hungry greedy buggers ,got the first few on a 4/0 with 1/2 a pilly on that i had out for flathead.

so after the first few i went to worms and a small hook.

bro spent most of the time playing with soft plastics and hard bodies .

he was getting hits and lose tails ,but no hookups .

at 10 pm i let him fish a bit more while i got the pots ready .

headed up river dropped the pots in 2 spots and went up to the bridge for a fish .

sat in the middle of the river around the rocks .

bro fished sp's and bait ,i was still staying on bait .

we got a handful of bream each all around 24 cm ,not legal anymore .

so they all went back for a swim to grow bigger .

i got a tiny tiny flathead under 20 cm i reckon ,i didn't bother to measure him.

he was a greedy bugger too ,taking a big prawn on a 4/0.

so at 12:30 pm ish ,we where getting tired and bro had to work Sunday.

so headed back to the pots .

had a hell of a time from the train bridge to the moored boats, run a ground about 5 times.

one time was right up on a rock bank, the tinny was rocking form side to side in about 1 inch of water.

not sure if i took a different line or it was lower than last few time i been through there or cause it was dark and i couldn't see or if the bloke up the front of the boat was not keep a eye out for me .

i think it was a combination of all of them .

so back to the crab pots

first 2 out got a big fat buck .

second 2 where high and dry as it was almost dead low tide.

bro tried to walk to them ,since he is lighter than me ,but after 2 meters he was knee deep and had another 4 meters to get to the pots .

so now i got to go back today to get them and have a fish :)

hopefully i'm lucky and there still about .

so not pic of the fish as i only had my phone and they where nothing special.

so end up with some whiting and a crab for a feed :)

here is a cpl of pics of the crab .

Nice one Dave.........nothing wrong with Whiting and a muddie for dinner.

Do you have sounder hooked up to that tinnie? Is so, how deep does it get in spots?

I've sounded around and up the creek before, can get up to 6m deep in some holes on a good tide. Beejay will be able to answer your question better though mate

part 2

went down this arvo ,just after low tide .

me and rhys in the canoe, still couldn't get to the pots .

but they where still there :).

so dropped some pots about and had a slack bait soak in the mouth .

1 1/2 hrs later tide came in enough ,so got the pots and the ones i dropped earlier .

only 1 crab but another buck and a keeper :)

back to the ramp packed and loaded up just before dark and the mozzies.

so i'm happy as ,my luck has changed .

got me pots back and 2 nice muddies .

haven't taken the sounder last 2 trips there .

i have seen about 5 meters in some spots ,depending on time and tide .

haven't traveled that much about the river or sounded it much .

just ricketts rd to the mouth .

think i have been there twice around the high tide and 4 times around the low tide .
