Heybers Beacon?

Are my directions correct? Leave from Wello point ramp, go through the channel markers, turn left and the beacon is about 2km's away heading past king (on your left). If this is correct what type of bottom is out there, so I know what to expect?

It looks a fair distance to paddle, just want to make sure I am prepared when i head there, (my voyager isn't the fastest and I think I would make an easy target for a stinker). Otherwise I might head right and see if there are any flatties in the shallows heading towards Viccy Point.

Any advice would be appreciated.

well you are heading in the right direction. The bottom is very rocky/reef and fishes ok at times. not to much weight otherwise you will spend more time rigging up then fishing. Can also get pretty rough out there, so pick your days with caution specially if kayaking. hope this helps

there is not much point fishing there on a weekend. The waters only about 3m deep and all the boat traffic racing up and down along there really shuts the fish down, unless you target the shallows for bream and flathead.

Thanks guys, might have to take a planned sickie one day when the weather is better.

It is always more enjoyable spending a day on the bay when your getting payed, even if you are one of the bosses
