drop lining tools for deep fish release

i was curious as what people are using for dropping threadies and jew back to the depths. i use a mick fillets first proto dropper which is a lead weight and 16/0 hook moulded in it, he has come up with some great proto's with a few that are like lip grippers and multi fit weights.

the one i use is for the big girls which have a decent size air bladder, its heavy and care needed to lower the fish down, just cant let it go and rip their bottom jaw out! but lower them down at a steady pace then a quick tug and it releases.

i remember a while ago in qfm they had brick versions but a bit rugged i think.

keen to see some pics of different ones used with the pro's and con's

cheers

this is prototype #4 in the pics.#5 and #6 didnt quite make it to the boat for a test run as they need a bit more refiening. #1 #2 all work great it just that if the fish decides to flick it will inbed a gaff sized hook into the hand. so I come up with a safer design for the user and I believe that #4 prototype prvides a better lip hold on the fish and is alot more fish friendly as there is a larger surface area grabing the fishes jaw for support rather than the hook style bomb.#4 is made from plastic and has one moving part eliminating breakages unlike #5-6.It is a compact design to fit in a small tackle box. a wieght is still needed to bomb the fish to the bottom.once the wieght hits the bottom pressure is released from the lip grip allowing it to open fully as it is spring loaded to assist the opening and release the fish.its really designed to be used in water greater than 15m and I have specificaly designed the lip grip and the wieght of the bomb for a thredie or jewie.not saying it cant be used on other fish even the humble catfish gets a 1st class ride to the bottom to over come its baratrauma. :)
