just passing on a message from another site. you can reach him on this website...http://victoriansaltwaterfishing.com/

Hello All

A group of us have got together and come up with a simple unbiased way to let all concerned know that we fisher folk all stand united and have had enough of not being consulted or taken seriously

Our plan is to get 10 to 15 thousand signatures Australia wide through tackle outlets fishing clubs and websites

Attached is a simple unbranded pdf that I would hope you would all participate in distributing either through your organizations etc

With delays in the mako issues and with marine parks proposed for most of the NSW coast the PEW take ove of the QLD coast ETC ETC and the demise of Recfish now is the time

We are hearing murmurs of an early (late August) election and feel this message needs to be gotten across before then

REMEMBER THIS IS ONLY STEP 1

Thanking you all in advance

If anyone needs more info please feel free to email or PM me

pdf available HERE

and this is what it looks like

Mate, i'll back this for sure. The government and associated parties need to do far more LEGITIMATE research on the effects of recreational fishing before they impose laws, bans etc. Whilst most are for the best, some are outright ridiculous and simply ridicule anglers.

If you need help spreading the word, feel free to PM me and I'll do what I can

Hi feLiX..thanks mate. i am in the process of initiating some correspondence with these guys so i know who/what is happening. from my perspective i'll help organise getting the forms to fishing related shops. i guess it's important to map out areas where locals will have a good chance of getting the petition in. i use BCF cannon hill and Tackle world in coorparoo/camphill so there's no problem em visiting places like that. when i am better informed i'll certainly get in touch. i'll leave a bit more information at the end of this post. i've seen figures of signatures stating the 'conservationists' had 23,000 and the NQ boys had 5,000..these being the only guys i know of who have run a similar campaign to be heard..anyway thanks again..here's where i got interested...

Dalymacca posted;

I have been asked by a couple of groups and individuals about what does this all mean and what do we stand for and what do we want

maybe some clarification is needed

WE fish means ALL OF US

this is not about single issues

This is about the 3 things on the petition

its about BEING TAKEN SERIOUSLY

ITS ABOUT BEING ASKED and not TOLD

and its about giving us a FAIR GO as A GROUP

it doesn't matter whether you fish for trout or reckon they just get in the way of natives its ABOUT having the right to wet a line for them

it doesn't matter whether you fish for squid off a jetty in tassie or fish for giant blacks off cairns. Its about having the right to stand on that jetty or fish those wide waters

its about being ASKED or Consulted or SHOWN GENUINE SCIENTIFIC evidence about a stretch of water

no one would ever argue the 7 creeks area should be closed to fishing because there is scientific proof that this area needs to be protected because of the trout cod breeding areas within it

show us scientific areas for the NSW coast

WE WILL ONLY BE HEARD AS A UNITED GRUOP

sure we all have our individual opinions

but it is about time all political parties realise WE ARE LARGE IN NUMBER and WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH of being treated poorly

We with our spending keep coastal and inland communities propped up with our spending

99.9% of angler fish within the rules or even more environmentally conscious than that the 0.01% aren't anglers

We tag fish for research and take home a feed

everyone i have spoken to about fishing and fisherman's rights and grievances over the last 2 or 3 years and longer in some cases have all said the same 2 things

1 i wish we were all together on this as we seem to argue amongst ourselves

2 some political parties dont take us seriously because of point 1

now fishing or the right to is an Australian way of life

so is the one in all in belief that is behind this

standing by your mates

lets make enough noise

ONCE AND FOR ALL so they (the decision makers ) know we are there

Hi guys and thanks Tin

Yes a group of us have decided enough is enough and we are trying to galvanise the fishing community nationally

Most peak bodies have been left toothless by either funding or political influences and our little group can say and do things because we are not

a few down here cannot believe waht is going on in your neck of the woods with PEW etc (yes we have all of the details) We are sick of people drawind squares on the map of our coastline and saying hey lets close this off or stop this in this area without consultation etc

We fought the mako ban down here succesfully with some great help from both sides of the political fence and they are realising we exist

We as a nation spend 5+ BILLION a year on recreational fishing and we want some recognition and a fair bloody go

I think we are all smart enough to work with governments when needed but they need to consult with us or they will find themselves out of work ;)

ps the shark is a state record so although it does look small it was actually 76 kg taken in the Rhyll tourny this year ;)

any queries or questions feel free to pm or email me at dale@victoriansaltwaterfishing.com

we have great support in every state ;)
