Noosa!!!

Hi All,

Just wondering if anybody has been up that way recently?

Used to go to sunshine beach - just south of the Nudie Beach on the southern side of Noosa national park and used to get heaps of pippies? Are they still there?

Then used to go back round to the actual entrance of noosa heads national park near hastings street, and walk the trek all the way up to dolphin cove, and used to catch heaps (whiting/bream/trevally etc).

Anybody know if this is still the case?

Any other good spots up that way? gonna get a boat for one day this weekend (going up there camping from sat-monday)

Thanks

Paul

Last good feed of whiting (besides Sandy Cape) I got was from Noosa river.. But that was... Shit, it was 10 years ago. Straight out from noosa sound, beach the boat on the sandbar. Sit in the boat and fishing yabbies / worms on the incoming tide. We got 20 there, and that was during the school holidays.

I live up this way I think the pippies are scarcer nowdays from over fishing there is still plenty of fishing in the river a couple of weeks ago I was on the rock wall area near the mouth of the river and they were pulling bream (all legal) out like crazy, there were also long toms being caught. For whiting the sand bars on the opposite side of the river is a popular spot and plenty of whiting are caught there still,, I fish mainly ip the river near the lake enterance and there is Flatties and although I havent causght one Mangrove Jacks, there is plenty of fish there and the river is very healthy

Munna point near the campground is always good a couple of hours either side of high tide Paul. You can access it land based or from a boat. If you've got a cast net and a hire boat you can throw it near the air-sea rescue pontoon for herring. The pontoon is private though and for obvious reasons it can't be accessed from land.

Hey Bogan, I was there last saturday can highly recommend the rock wall on the right hand side of channel as your heading towards the bar, great drifting, have a good look around and throw some baits at all of the hire boat places and pontoons on that stretch of river we had lots of luck last weekend, and just before the tewantin ferry on both sides of channel i sore some great weed beds. Have a look on google earth for a preview.

Goodluck.Dont forget the camera.
