Brisbane River FAQ

Hey guys. Gonna hit the river monday morning and was hoping to chase some fish near the river mouth. As neither me nor the owner of the boat has fished the lower reaches before, are there any rules that we have to follow in terms of locations/distances from wharfs/etc? Also is fishing/anchoring allowed around the kangaroo point/southbank/west end area? Sorry for the silly questions but would appreciate some tips or if someone can steer me to a website with the details. Thanks! Hope for a nice report monday

KP, Southbank and west end I don't believe have too many rules if any.

Wharves closer to the mouth, 30m from empty wharves, 50m from moored ships.

very deep and can be hard to anchor round kp

if you anchor anywhere through the city areas and up to west end the city cats will drive you mad

forgot bout the cats. will probably stay around the mouth then. hope to see some guys out there.
