hey jack again, just wondering if anyone has ever caught a cod in the condamine river. i live in chinchilla and have heard storys of the magical 50lbs cod being pulled out of there. but i am yet to see one.

what are the best rigs for set lines and rods? i usally use a running sinker and a number 2 or 3 hook. and put either shrimp or creyfish on. this rig has managed me many yellas and some big carp but no cod. just wondering if i am doing anything wrong??

any advice would be appreciated

cheers jacko

Hey jack Try and get your hand on some bardie grubs (witchity grub) and just a little trick tie them on with some some cotton to stop them getting taken buy the pickers and up size your hooks because cod with make light work of you no 2/3 hooks

cheers dassa

jack, grew up catchin them in the rivers and dams round the ACT, best bait for bigger cod is big yabbies or big bardie grubs. I'd be using 4/0 hook, cod and yellas will have no trouble takin it.

good luck mate!

adam

yer i'll post some pics of where i am trying later tonight. the water is very dirty and lures are hopeless. i will be fishign seriously for cod next holidays when i will be camping out on the river. hopefully then i can catch some thing decent.

also I have just been informed that on 17/1/10 over 7000 murry cod where released into the chinchilla weir. hopefully some of those grow up to be big.

cheers jacko
