yellowtail kings in Moreton Bay?

Hi All,

After a great morning on the Bay yesterday (despite what the Almanac said), we headed for Goat Island. The catch kept coming. Near the top of the tide, I cast a small pillie that got slammed. At the first flash of it screming past the boat I thought shark, but when it turned tail for the bottom and I saw a great flash of yellow, I thought... no, it couldn't be......... a kingie, in the Bay? I must be dreamin', must be a tailor, he's got a green back, white belly, pulls like a truck, must be a tailor, kingfish don't live here!! It turns out that they do. He was only small, 45cm, but what a suprise, and what a hard fighting fish. I want more!

Are these a sessional fish to the Bay or was I just in the right spot at the right time?

yellow tail and black kingfish are common in certain parts of the bay along the western side of moreton and nth stradbroke islands

I heard of a mate catching an 11kg just off Peel. no proof but he doesn't BS much.

A looooooong time ago (70's) there used to be some absolute thugs around there. In recent time have only seen little ones to about 50 or 60 cm and even they aren't thick by any means.

i think a few get caught over at dunich at straddie......around where the car ferrry goes in....another spot thats on the list to get to!
