Lazy day goes ok

Spent Saturday and Sunday helping my oldest son move house. Dragging furniture up and down steps - you know the drill. Woke up this morning at 8am and thought I might as well take advantage of the holiday and get the boat in the water. Quick check: fuel (not a lot, but enough for a quick trip around the mouth), bait (a bit of leftover squid and a few old pillies). Got the cast net on board, but couldn't be a**ed using it.

Ended up at fishos at the crack of 10.30am. Carparking at a premium, but as luck would have it, the guy coming in also vacated a spot right beside the ramp. Left the ramp with the plan to drift around the drop off near the tug station (yep, really lazy today).

Dropped some squid overboard and turned it some of these

Probably should have released the cod, but as we say "too good to only eat once" so bought it home for cod and chips tonight. Went 54cm and 2.2kg. Should be tasty.

All in all a pretty good 2 hours on the river in the middle of the day with no planning or preparation. The spot where I got the bream looks like it could be a great location in the winter. Had a few bust offs as well as landing 3 bream over 30cm in a half hour session. Would like to share, but it is a pretty small area that can only take one boat at a time.

Speaking of cod, i was down at Fish on Fire at cleveland the other day for lunch and they had just gotten in some deep sea cod straight off the boat 2 hrs before i walked in the door.

I swear by the grilled snapper there, but went for the DS Cod and puck-me-drunk it was absolutely sensational..............

anyway, good cod there OS...
