I hit up the area in front of and just inside the marina for not much action on friday night. Started with throwing a big live prawn out and getting belted and then bitten off on 50lb.

I did manage to raise one big eel which i later found out was a Hairtail about 1.2m long. The fangs on it were insane, probs 4cm long and looked razor sharp. Didn't keep it because i thought it was similar to a pike eel and i only got told later at the ramp that they are a nice white fleshed meat. Strange catch though considering they are normally found in 300m+ of water.

asides from that a couple solid runs that wrapped me around structure and caught a couple healthy bream in the cast net which i thought was a big school of prawns.

Dad and I went out in search of a feed of whiting from around 3pm till 9pm last night. couldnt raise interest from anything bigger than around 15-20cm. a bunch of squire and bream caught as bycatch but all were tiny.

Overall an interesting area which i will definitely hit up in the future.

no pics sorry.

On friday night there was a lot of big boofs on the surface all well inside the marina where we were told to get out of. i had a rapala shallow diver on and flicked that about a bit but it had no love.

Last night there was a few mullet jumping and im pretty sure some swarming prawns but i couldnt get close enough to get them. No big boofs or fish jumping that i saw.

I was awake till around 12 last night and decided i had better kick the flu instead of kayaking. 3 hours of sleep would have been painful.

Im keen for some kayaking next weekend if anyone is heading out.

Did you get onto the trevs?

The Chinese love them. They call them "Dai yu" or "han yu pin yin". They rave over them. I have cooked them several times from china town. You quickly deep fry them and them cook them again in a sweet soy, ginger, garlic, sugar, and star anise. They are great. At 1.2 metres a shame to through back.

not my cooking but i hope to make it this good 72fa_7bf276d26eaf4d1a3af3cf8b.jpg
