what bait to use for...

hey fellas,

wat bait should i use for garfish...

what should i use for mullet...

and to catch them on a rod?

Dough is pretty much the universal bate for both these species. Although Timbo and I caught a bag full at North Pine Dam the other day on very small peices of prawn.

As to whether you can catch them on a rod. Of course!

I would reccomend a very small hook on light line suspended about 30cm under a float.

As Angus said Bread is the best for mullet, throw in plenty of burley and get them in a feeding frenzy and hold on if the big ones are around they go hard.

For garfish in Np dam I burley them up with bread but I have a better hook up rate using worm pieces (Probably the way I put the bread on a hook I seem to drop a lot of fish)

old really stale ricebubbles are good they are tough and hard to get off the hook

ill eat the coco pops and the fish can take the rice bubbles

Don't forget to burley up for gar with bran. They go crazy on it.

I've also found little yabbies that are a little small for whiting and bream are great as well.
