Being stuck to the river bank fishing for the last few years had made us really excited being able to fish the river via a boat. 0700 launch from breakfast creek went well except for a magnitude of bites on my hands and feet which nearly gave me an anaphylaxis. Anyways, mind was focused ans was able to push the itch and rashes aside. Zoomed past the gateway and river was smooth as with the best day anyone could ask for.

Not knowing where to start and with no sounder, we stopped somewhere past the gateway and started loading out woolies banana prawns. 2 hours later and we had landed 4 squire amongst 3 of us. Had only one keepers at 35cm and the rest went back to live another day. Also 2 shovelnose and a sting ray kept us busy. Decided to checkout the mouth and again not sure where to, we stopped at what looked like a dropoff with a few fishos anchored along the stretch. Caught only a small bream so headed out to the poo shot. Nothing much there as well but had a glimpse of bronze when reeling in my prawn and was excited about a possible jack. However it was quiet so we headed back to our usual spot which resulted in an ugly eel before we packed up for the day.

Guess nothing to shout about but I reckon it was pretty good for a first timer. Hope to get more time on the water in the coming weeks if the wife allows :) Now to save up for a sounder/gps so we can find our own spots.

excellent mate,

I went out to catch some prawns and pillies for tonight fishing at around 11am today. The water was very calm and smooth though it rained a bit. Seems good day for tailor fishnig tonight. Wish some good feeds tonight.

Hey mate! Yea haven't done any proper fishing for over a year but have always watched the site. Am definitely glad to be back and looking forward to more action. Let me know if you wanna meet up for a fish sometime.

always been in brisbane but stopped fishing for a year for some reason. Glad I'm back into it. Gonna be heading out tomorrow night so hope it goes well : )
