:) mate you won't get too many secrets out of people who have been able to consistently get those species. But your best bet is to read the threads and pick up the hints from there.

It'll give you the right idea of where to start, what to do and what gear is used.

You'll be able to get all of those listed species landbased and by boat. Obviously by boat you'll have access to more spots.

Threadies

get yourself a castnet and use live prawns or herring or poddy mullet, medium sinker 70cm leader (30-40lb mono) no 2 circle hook, 20 lb mainline (mono) 15 lb (braid) approx.

Locale- Bretts warf high-outgoing tide (dusk to night time)

- Kangaroo point-high-outgoing tide(dusk to night time)

- St lucia -high-outgoing tide(dusk to night time)

- Newstaed park pontoon--high-outgoing tide(dusk to night time)

-Goodna-high-outgoing tide(dusk to night time)

-Bulimba yacht club-high-outgoing tide(dusk to night time)

-West end pontoons (the ones closer to St Lucia)-high-outgoing tide(dusk to night time)

Mornings on the same tide are also good.

persistance pays off, you need to keep trying till you get one (it's not hard).

So that's for threadies..fishing like that you could get a bycatch of Jew or Jack, but

I am not totally up on them except for fishing underbridges for both Jew and Jack with live bait.

Try the threadies, then move on.

Personally I would rigg up and head for Kangaroo point, very interesting water there....;) (live bait only).

cheers

Ryan I dont profess to be an expert to the likes of Wesfish (who can land a threadie from a bucket)and have only 3x1m + threadies ton speak of but you don't need to go that heavy! I've landed all 3 on 8lb braid with 20lb mono trace and a round sinker about 10mm in diameter.

Only thing fishing light is that you'll need to take a while to resuscitate the fish and perhaps increase the lead as the time starts to run. Herring are the go. Anywhere between 1hr before & after dead tide. Obviously the lighter the line the greater the chance it will wrap you around something if you're land based.

it is fairly bad practice regarding survival rates especially around the mouth area to use light gear on threadies if you plan on releasing the fish i would disregard this and stick with min 20lb preferred 30lb main and 40-60lb leader to put the brakes and heavy consistant pressure on

couldnt agree more there, high out going, usually right after the change is prime time, often use a patanosta rig with one or two hooks in my opinion the higher the hooks away from the sinker the better although this makes it hard to cast but means you bait will be well suspended of the immediate bottom which can slightly reduce the catty bycatch. ive also noted it can be easy to pull hooks on a good thready so dont get to excited and let your drag do its job
