Hi - I assume you are talking about a bow mount at that price. I have a similar boat size and I have a 54lbs water snake. It is an appropriate size. Just remember that the cost does not stop at the cost of the motor. You have to purchase a deep cycle battery and a special battery charger for deep cycle batteries. this will be another ~$600

Mate jump on ebay and search for jarvis watersnake. The best store on there is Allround Angler. He can do you a 54pd/44inchshaft with 2 remotes and a foot pedal for $719 delivered. By far the cheapest I've found. I ordered mine and got it the next day. Have heard great things about their after sales service as well.

As for battery and charger, try this thread here

Hope that helps - Jono

I currently own a Jarvis Marine WaterSnake, I haven't had mine that long. But after a lot of research and advice I purchased a watersnake. Apparently they come out of the same factory as the motorguide ones, which are fairly reputable, but not as common in Australia.

I have heard that some of the early watersnake motors had some problems, but the bugs have been ironed out with the newer models.

I've used the Minn Kota motors as well (on friend's boats) and the major difference I have noticed is that the watersnake is louder when rotating the shaft (left and right turning.)Apparently this is lessened by applying marine grease to the shaft.

From what I've been told by countless watersnake owners, Jarvis Marine's after sales service is second to none.

As a first time bow mount, I couldn't be happier with it and am glad I went with the watersnake instead of the much pricier Minn-Kota. As an amateur fisherman, I could not justify spending the extra thousand dollars for the minn kota.

Just remember that after you purchase your motor, you're looking at another possible 400-600 dollars on a deep cycle battery and charger. Also, you may need some possible boat bow modifications (anywhere up to $500 for an aluminium welder) in order to mount the motor as some models of tinny do not allow for an easy mounting.

In summary, the Watersnake does everything I want and in the short time I have owned it I haven't had any major problems (bar operator error  )

Hope this helps,

Cheers - Jono

HIGHLY RECOMEND THE AUTO PILOT FUNCTION

its like haveing some one else drive for you

which ever breed you get

ive found the watersnake to be a honest item fairly reliable but the loner kota i had was figgin great. im not sure about the value for money difference though .
