kookaburra arvo muck around.

i headed out to kooka this arvo with a mate and his son, the main goal was to head upstream and look for some flatties on lures. we were un successful at the shoals but io nooticed some poddies cruising close. so a quick flick of the net and i had 12 lil mullet about 4-5" long.

we decided to have a crack with the bait since lures were quite. we didnt have all that many traces so we made do with what was in the boat.

brandon my mates sun decided he would use the closest rig which was a 60lb mono leader with a 6/0 circle on it. he baited up and launched the lil mullet up towards the shallows. michael and i used the only 2 wire traces in the boat and deployed baits.

was not long before brandon was on and after a fun battle for him he boated a nice lil 70cm bully! :woohoo: he was cheering as it was his first bully!! i looked at the leader and it was fine , so he rebaited and deployed again. minutes later and he was on again, this one was moving fast and giving him hell. not a minute into the fight and the shark bit through the mono.. :(

not more happened after this and it got dark quick so we called it quits.

i was happy to see the young fella tick another one off the list, 1mtr thready last trip and 70cm bully this trip. 105_1381_600x800.jpg

nice one

just out of curiosity I am wondering how the cross hatched marks apeared on the back and belly of the fish?

cheers

Looks like marks from the fishing line, hes done a little death roll in the net on the deck maybe, and the marks are from where the line wraped around just a thought.

.A little bullie like that is very fragile and bruise and mark easily.notice the black blemish mark behind its head from where brandon was holding it.A little bullie like that would only be a few weeks old, If that. so there very fresh and HUNGRY :woohoo:
