Well I am about to tell an embarrassing story. I was a little concerned that I would be the least experienced competitor having never fished MB and with little saltwater experience. So we headed off. We went from the inner city to Redland Bay, with a quick stop into Fishheads for a quick chat with Duncan for the local knowledge. We put all the gear into the boat, launched it and started off. Looked around and DAMN the boys do not have their life jackets. I went back to the car to get them and damn no life Jackets. Loaded the boat and back home. Two crying boys and I am not happy. Promised we would go out in the morning quickly before my mum’s mother day celebrations.

Set out this morning with a bit over 2 hours to spare. The kids wanted to catch their first flathead so we headed out. We tried a few soft plastics around Mclaey island with no success so we moved to the channels and set up the kids with pillies and gang hooks and started drifting. 2 drifts latter and the kids had picked up 3 Flatties and one small bream. Flatties 57, 45, & 39cm, and bream a small 23cm. (first flatties for the boys) I wanted to throw back the smaller ones but the kids protested. All in all a good day
