best bait for mouth of brisbane river

hi everyone this is my first post i just bought a boat and want to go out sat morning i was just wondering if the usual squid,pilliesand mullet would do or should i be looking for something else thanks jamming

squid ,mullet strips ,pillies all have there place and work .

I am no expert but have been hitting up the mouth a fair bit lately with pillies. I was cutting them into 4 and using the chunks and getting no hits, but the whole pillies on a snelled rig have landed squire, school mackerel and plenty of vermin. Good luck!

with pillies i only use whole or cut in 1/2 .

cut in 1/2 has got me greedy fish.

bream 25cm and under ,whiting 23 to 25 cm,moses perch around 20 to 25 cm,squire around 20 to 25 cm and flathead around 30 to 40 cm .

all on the smaller side or smaller species fish.

full pillies has got me flathead 40 to 70 cm,jew fish around 40 cm,big bream 25 to 35 cm and snapper 30 to 40,on the bigger side.

caught plenty of catfish on both 1/2 or full pillies .

the humble old pilly definitely has its place .
