Can I ask a question?

Why did you keep and kill a fish that you had no idea on what it was? You could potentially be breaking the law if you kept an endangered or undersize fish. Tailor have minimum size limits I suggest you look into getting one of those tide time books that shows pictures and tells you what the minimum size is.

Good on you for getting into a few but if you are new to fishing then it is better to be safe then sorry.

First one is definatley a pike mate,

Great for bait (live or dead) and apparently not bad eating if cooked right. As far as I know, no size or bag limits apply. Second fish is definatley a chopper tailor, or just tailor.

As Beejay said, bag limits and size limits DO apply, so please be careful when keeping 'unidentified' fish'

A small illustrated fish species handbook kept in your' tacklebox can save you a few hundred dollars in fines
