Trophy Fish

Has anyone had there catches stuffed and mounted? Just wondering because if i catch something really nice, i wouldnt mind having it mounted. Does anyone know where this can be done? And what i need to do to the fish after catching it to keep it in condition before it gets stuffed?

If it was a fish I'd reckon you'd just have to keep it cold until you got it to the taxidermist.

I've heard of it being done up north. Apparently there is an old guy in Cardwell who is renouned for it. It is very far from cheap though and yeah, you wanna freeze the fish.

my old man has had a 23lb snapper mounted..looks awesome...nxt time im there il take a pic and post up for ya ash...costs a bit thou...

Crap that's a big bugger of a snapper. I have permission from chef of war and finance to have a prize fish mounted for my pool room but I can't catch one. :pinch:

I'm thinking 140cm Awoonga Barra or a big bugger Brissy salmon or some huge cod. Whatever comes first I think.

remember the bloke at Biloela at the tackle shop, he was giving us broad hints that his taxidermist already had a 1.2m Callide barra in the freezer and he could make trophies up for anyone who caught and released a big barra from the dam.

I reckon he might get a few blokes back a couple of hours later - yeah mate caught and released a stonker, reckon you could get your taxidermist to knock me up one!

I reckon a little bully would like super on the way. It would be mounted with the body bent and jaws flared open. It would look awesome :B Bit of a pipe dream though cause I'm guessing costs could be what a thou or so???

there are a few blokes around that do fiberglass moulded copys of fish that are alot cheaper than real taxidermy.
