windy Sunday

Promised Nickers brother, Chris, a fishing trip, so with the wind forecast being up there, it was decided to hit the river for a sunrise session in Keen-as-fisho's boat.

Out to the mouth and lines in the water by 6am, it was unusually quiet. Lots of bait and 2 way undersize squire all to show for a good hours fishing. Moved out around the front of the reclaimed land, still bugger all. The birds working a bit further out helped decide the next plan, and we spent an hour chasing small chopper tailor. One of the little buggers latched onto me and took a chunk  Pretty unimpressive wound, so never bothered with a photo.

Tried Boggy Creek for zero, then another likely spot for the same. Run to another spot and Den hooks a solid river flattie

We moved up to Colmslie and I went into the cafe to grab a take away coffee. Apparently there is a dress code there, and I was asked to wait outside. Parked up in spot and Den pulled in a nice flattie. Which went in the esky for Chris.

Moved up to a barge and with a bit of tuition Chris managed his first fish on a plastic.

At the start of the day I think he was treating this style of fishing as a form of black magic.

Dropped Chris off to his car and we head back out to the mouth and its like a washing machine. Only managed another flattie then called it a day and tried our luck on the water police pontoon for a bream on the way into the ramp.

It was a good day out on the river and calm first up until the wind turned later in the day. The fishing was tough with many lure changes. The squire being our main target wheren't playing the game with only 2 or 3 boated at about 28/30 cm. As Tomca said we did alot of searching until we found some fish. The flatty was taken on a 3 inch nuke chook shrimp, 4lb fins and 8lb leader :woohoo: but to my surprise had litle to no fight in him. Moving up towards the gateway we boated a handful of bream and another medium flatty which I'm sure Chris enjoyed. Great day apart from the wind and good to get out on the boat again.
