i normally use 5/0 circle hooks with 30lb mono spin gear and have extra rods if need be or 30 to 40 lb over head reels work even better on the bigger fish will give you a call and talk tackle

the swell has dropped to under a meter and the wind will is 10 to 15knots going variable and dropping to 5 to 10knots during the day there will be no bar in the morning

saturday will be good to with the winds from the west which keeps the swell down so there will be very little bar to jump and the day will get better with the winds dropping. it will be cold but thats about it but the big snapper will keep me busy and sweating i hope

Good luck, tugger & eug. Just got back from 4 days at Pt Lookout. Saw a few boats out that way yesterday afternoon as the conditions eased. A few tinnies headed out fro Cylinder as well with talk of mackeral, so it might be worth being prepared for the razor gang if the bottom bashing is quiet.

We took my daughter and her Canadian boyfriend over. He had never seen the sea before and the weather was pretty special. Saw whales, dolphins and other sea life from the point and saw a kangaroo and a wallaby as well, so a pretty amazing trip for him. The rest of them fitted in a surf lesson while I took the photos and had a fish from the rocks at Cylinder. Fished every day, but not seriously because I didn't think it would be safe to take him down the rocks (not sure of his travel insurance details). Didn't get a single bite in four days - never happened before.
