Yakking this morning at scarborough

Hit the water at about 5:30 and it was a little chilly!

Trolled up to the top reef and was surprised at how many boats were out that had no lights on!

Managed a few small squire on the troll and one that was 36cm but he went back.

was very quier throwing plastics and noone was getting any fish.

Started heading back down and got a small tailor. Past the rocks south of the ramp was very quiet as well but I did get a surprise of a nice little bonito!

Called it a day at about 10:30.

I have just invested in a all round white light, About $20 from BCF for a clamp on torch with pole. I changed the pole over to a longer one to make it more visible.

Can't take any chances out there as there were some real idiots in big cruisers charging through everyone at full speed.

Lucky you justham, getting out for a fish and getting something. Been blowing here for a few days - cold westerlies.

The light I use is a Tekrite I think it's called. Runs off three AA batteries. Payed $40 for it and it has saved my life a few times for sure. Mounted on a piece of PVC that sits in the good old milk crate behind me.

There is a reason that nobody has lights on whilst fishing this area. It is because as soon as you switch a light on it seems to attract a heap of nuff nuffs who don't really have any idea, they motor right up next to you, or through your berley trail, try to anchor beside you, banging their anchor chains and decreasing your chances of catching a fish. Regulars keep a torch or spotty at hand to shine onto boat traffic moving at speed only to let them know their position.

Wello has been a bit more consistent by the looks of it. Glad you got out on the water again today, I had stoopid work again.

Ant, you stole my light idea! Right down to the duct tape

Regarding the brain deads in tinnies, the other day I had a chuckle at this genius that motored up to a likely spot with his bow mount, then dropped the anchor over the side so all 6 feet of chain rattled over the bow rail. And then wonder why we catch all the fish
