Awesome weekend thaks rob... bloody share farmers wouldnt want to get caught, broken body parts arent worth a few red claw... we had the fire ring glowing real good, all sitting around the fire at 10pm in thongs, and shorts getting a tan  P1010176-20100615.JPG

How long do you leave your pots in for?

I didn't end up heading out to the dams this weekend...the cold scared me off. Might have to pop in and say hi next time tho...get some redclaw tips ;-)

Cheers

Nat

  • 3 weeks later...

Guys, i'm hoping to hit up somerset this weekend and try for redclaw for the first time.

I'm looking for some tips on where to place the traps and what you use for bait.

I've read up on Ray's methods so i've got a good idea on catfoods, but someone once told me rockmelon was the go?

So do we go close to the banks, in deep water, on drop offs or what?

I really have no idea! The last time i caught a yabbie, it was with a piece of meat on some butchers twine in the local creek and slowly dragging him up and getting behind him with a net :-)

Any tips would be greatly appreciated! ;)

Is anyone going to be out there?

Cheers

Nat

i would be using rock melon orange paw-paw and mango it seems to be the best up there and you can have feed while you bait your pots mmm,and put them in along the rock walls or rocky slopes in about 6-10 meters of water,or look around for fallen logs in the water around this depth of water, good luck.brad
