Hi all - I was getting sick of the weekend weather always being windy and terrible so on Tuesday after consulting Seabreeze we decided to flick work on Thursday and GO FISHING with my brother. After dealing with the morning rush of phone calls we got on the water launching from Viccy Point by 10am. We headed over to Macleay Island to fish the drop offs while we assessed the wind. We found ourselves in the nursery catching 50 to 60, 25 to 29cm snapper, was fun but nothing to take a photo of. We did also pick up a Ellicat P@#nis (photo following) and a sea toad. I got chopped off but probably another toad. I am still getting used to fishing with SPs but I could not buy a bite on it for the time we where there. We where running out of Pillys so we had the choice of going back to Viccy Point or Dunich.

I won and we headed to Dunich to throw some SPs again and pick up some bait. We got there about 1.00pm and started flicking around the pylons. We had some interest from a few bream but no takers. I had a few follows from a few Trevallys so I threw some poppers but nothing, so we stuck on some snapbacks I picked up from Harvey Bay. First cast and we were on. So in between dodging the ferries and the painters on the barge we picked up 19 Trevs and lost another 10. We had a king follow a couple of times but no take.

We had a great day. Really enjoyed ourselves and back at Viccy Point at 5.15pm. B) :Prugby_268.jpgrugby_272.jpgrugby_264.jpgrugby_261.jpg

I'd gladly take a deckie spot on your boat and let you watch me catch squire on plastics :P The trevs there are a lot of fun especially on the 4-6lb stuff

I am planning on settling the score with some kingies over there next week. They were more interested in big movements last time, not the finesse approach.

haha now we do not want to get into a competition here :P:)

Tomca - Sounds good, my boat is a but a baby 4.1m catcher so it has to be a good day to get out on the bay. I will keep an eye on the forecasts and work and see what you are up to. I really want to master SPs. Maybe next time I will not take any bait. :)

When you where talking about "big movements" I assume you where referring to the Kings? What approach do you use for the squire? cheers Ted

I old jetty you are talking about is I think next to the blue ferry entry on the East side. That is some of the area I fished. Plenty of bait fish there. Lots of people fishing for bream but I think they are pretty well educated there. I have seen kingfish and cobia there. If over that way it is worth a go. Are you land based or boat as the old pylons are really only accessible to boat however there is a great rock wall and some pylons accessible from there?

Big movement for both really. Gotta get their attention somehow ;) Plenty of places in close around the bay to get onto legal squire, and leaving the bait at home will help you not give up too easily  Took a guy out last weekend with zero plastics experience and we got him onto a fish, and we were struggling to get a bite too
