Wellington Point Jetty - 18/6/2010

Went for a fish with Miss Munchkin yesterday evening. Arrived at around 4:30 and threw an SX40 around to gather up some pike for bait.

Miss Munchkin fished baits on the bottom and hooked a 22cm Snapper just off the berley pot on a peeled prawn. I landed two big pike and put these in the esky for use as strip baits later in the evening. Miss Munchkin also caught two red-spot whiting around the 20cm mark.

I managed two bream around the 20cm mark before the sun went down, then things went quiet. REALLY QUIET.

As the rain came down, we persisted and were amazed at the weather. The bay was like a millpond, with the only ripples caused by fish breaching and the raindrops falling on the water.

I threw a strip of pike out into the deeper water on my T-Curve and 6 pnd Finns, and was promptly smoked by something with a good set of teeth, thinking it was a Tailor.

Miss Munchkin hooked what looked like a great grassie or big bream but this was lost due to a bad hook up right at the jetty.

About 10 minutes later, she hooed into a great fish, and had a 32cm bream on the jetty within moments.

I persisted with lures and also threw a jig around for squid, but apart from droppind a fish on a Damiki Vault had no more luck for the night.

A good night but, great weather apart from the sprinkling of rain and had the jetty to ourselves, apart from a group of tourists who left all their rubbish on the rails for us to take to the trash
