Just to make it worse turn it over and read it backwards and there are 189 pages in french.

Cheers

I wonder if that means they waffle on more in France?

Do you know if its got digital signal processing and good in deeper water? Before I got my furuno I did a lot of research and a couple of years ago only furuno and raymarine had digital processing. The difference compared to my previous garmin in deeper water was unbelievable. Zero noise and clutter.

how much did that set you back mate if you dont mind me asking...... i still have to learn the whole reading structure and baitfish schools on sounders does it come with inbuilt gps?

He had it for $800 buy it now or best offer. I did my sums with the current conversion rate and offered him $850 including postage. That equated to $996 australian which was $4 under the $1000 limit .

However in the time it took to do the transaction the exchange rate changed and the new price ended up at $1023 australian but the customs let it through.

It is the US version which doesnt worry me as I still think in imperial. The temperature is in Fahrenheit so I will just stick a conversion graph next to the sounder. I mainly use the temp to look for warmer water rather than checking the temperature.

with all due respect i have no idea what you have just said dom i've had the cheapest of cheap sounders up to now and this one will probably do me as i rarely fish in deep water past 40m come to think of it the only time i've fished beyond 50m was twice and they were in my mates boats but hope this update will help my fishing a little bit as my sounder i've got now has been telling me lies for about a year now and the lowrance is under half the price of the furuno which the minister of finance has agreed on

Thats fair enough I just assumed you hit 80-100m reefs too. I found cheaper sounders not up to scratch at those kinds of depths.

How do you find your current sounder at depths of 40-50m or deeper whilst travelling at cruising speed? This is where I found my last sounder seriously lacking. Makes it very hard to find new ground when going from A to B.

my current one is a cheapie that came with the boat and is probably 200 bucks worth and doesn't work at all at speed and doesn't tell me the correct depth for about a year now so i don't know how i catch fish at all except i've fished these same reefs off brissy and the gold coast for 30yrs. i just take an educated guess and burley the fish to me :P

this is why i've been doing a bit extra at work of late to finally get a half decent one i just don't fish deeper than 40m plus don't drive around much finding new ground it keeps the fuel usage to a minimum

Rayke

Thats a damn good price for the Hummingbird, I am also looking at that sounder for the yak and it looks like a fantasic unit.

I do know that you get the Uni Map with the sounder:

How good/detailed is that map?

If you have a Navionics Gold Card, if you whack it in this sounder will it work?
