Sounder help

well guys just wanting some help with my sounder.

When i am driving along in the boat just at trolling speed the sounder shows up lots of fish at around 5-15 foot. So with lots of fish we stop the boat and start fishing. But as soon as the boat stops moving bam all the fish go off the sounder and no more show up . What could i be doing wrong.

Turn your sounder off fish id and put it on so that you see arches.

Arches dont lie.

It could be noise, debri, temp in water that you are seeing.

as shortie said you most likely have the fish id on and you are getting a false reading

As elops and shortie said; you most likely have the fish id option on and you are getting an incorrect reading. You could be getting a reading of noise, debris, H2O temp.

For the other guys - Since its when he is on the move - could it be due to aeration/water turbulance giving off dodgy readings?

thanks guys. yeh i put it on fish ID because i really couldent work out the arches. when we went to somerseat we had the arches on but it seemed like no arches where ever showing up just big black spots in the middle????????????

Google how to use a sounder. Some very useful info.

There is also a book you can buy. Ive seen it at BCF and Kmart.

I also think No Nmae did a thread on sounders some time back.

Homework is the key to geting the best out of your sounder.

Its definatelly worth while taking it off Fish ID, it is useless.
