Ouch.

What an awesome weekend!

Feeling a little bit worse for wear today (damn scotch :P) but the day was fantastic.

Lot of people caught their first bass, including the winner on the longest fish!

I was happy to get my two deckies some quality fish and some of my own as well.

Winner were:

Longest Bass: Donna Bovey 44cm.

Longest Bass On Lure: Tom Burton 35cm.

Best Misc Fish: Dennis Pearce 51cm Tandanus.

Anyway ill upload some photo's once I have had some panadol :P

Great weekend as usual well organised thanks Angus < Steve Wilkes and other behind the scenes workers.

Here are a few of my photos.

New ramp is pretty steep and a long walk up the hill for an old fella.Lots to loose gravel on the end. ( Ask Tom B )

Great weekend

Good fishing and better company just hope I can remember all the new faces. I hade enough problems remembering the old

ones.

Cheers

Had a great time, thought there was going to be some good bass about as my first fish went 40.5cm but it turned out to be the biggest for the weekend. Picked up a couple on lures this morning. Tandanus I got turned out to be 53cm as Rays bragmat shows 50cm mark 2cm from end and the tail was over end of mat. Never thought I'd win a prize for a catfish :woohoo:

I launched my yak from the scout camp and put out my redclaw pots in some likely spots. Trolled a deep diver down the dam for nil results. I found a couple of schooled fish and jigged a small white TT blade and came up with some fish, all in the low 20's. The fish kept moving as quick as I found them. My best one for the morning went 27cm, very dissappointing.

Came across Jeff_f and Zimman on a point and sounded around for some schools of fish. Jeff was on using a shrimp

and backed it up with another

then he was on again

DSCF5265.jpg

have a look at Zimmans face, its like he wasn't even wetting a line  I left them so there would be no witnesses when Jeff was thrown overboard and moved up further looking for some decent fish. Hit the points around Bass bay and the others also congregated around here for a few fish.

Donna hooked up and was loosing a bit of line

Steve was doing an awesome job keeping the masses hydrated

Some first time bass fishing was successful

and I think the smile says it all

And gus's score was 1 with a nice yella, but this one scored -1 so took his tally back to zero

IMGP0778.jpg

It was all too much for some, and took full advantage of a lunch break.

IMGP0781.jpg

After lunch I found a nice spot and caught my last fish on a popper...in June :woohoo:

IMGP0784.jpg

Ted and his deckie caught a few too

And a girl fishing glamour shot to finish :P

Tough day on lures, but the bait fisho's were clear winners this time around. The evening shenanigans will be burned into my brain for a long time.

Thanks for a great weekend Angus and Steve, I had a blast. Markus had a great time catching his first Aussie Fish. We had a good day yesterday with Markus taking home a Bass and a couple of Tandanus. The Dam was totally glassed out for most of the day yesterday. Cheers and looking forward to it again next year. Ted

It was great to meet you guys.

PS - Thanks Ray for the Red Claw I really enjoyed them.

hahah... what an event. I personally didn't do too much fishing... instead opting to put my foot in my mouth when I went to borrow something from Kriso, sleep, read a book and generally do nothing on the water :)

night came and game was on. Particular people just went for it on the booze.. i put it down to seeing my awesome drinking hat.

fantastic weekend and thank you again to the Sports Tuition team. Thanks to ray for the redclaw...

hopefully we can all be around a campfire at SOO.... jeez they're fun.

thanks to everyone for a great time. Fishing was slowish for me but i still caught a few including a pretty big catfish. Congrats to jeff on his new pB bass. I was given a lesson from the master there, (fact; Jeff caught 3 while i was tying on a hook) I gave him the angry monkey stare a few times but it did not work and he continued to catch more bass :P .

Great food in the evening and good company.(redclaw were awesome) the fireside chats were great, finished at around 1 or 2 am . It was not too cold either which made it even better.

here are some pics that i took

well up at 4.30am finished packing

short stop for brekky on the way down and we arrived down at 7.30

got on the water just after 8 and the first fish didnt come until about 10:30ish when brad pulled a little 25cm bass... from then on it was just a few small fish until he finally landed a legal at 33cm

about midday i finally got onto my first fish, and undersize bass and within 5 minutes i had my second

but that was all for me, i spent the rest of the day watching brad catch fish

tried throwing spinnerbaits, jackalls and trolling all sorts of lures to no avail. a few more bass for brad and a 50cm catty and that was it for the day

got the boat back on the trailer and started to head back to camp when that flat tyre feel came through the car, stopped and had a look and sure enough she was completely flat

so after a lot of stuffing around got it changed to find the spare flat as well but enough to limp it back to camp.. i would like to thank everyone who tried to help out with the tyre problem and cheers ted for letting me borrow the car to go pump the spare up

was a good day and the night was just hilarious

so apart from the $300 iv got to pay for a new tyre i had a blast

and a thanks to sports tuition for the event

pics to come

cheers, jake
