Need reel to match my new rod

Scope

Recommended Posts

you can run a 2500 on a 1-3kg but it has to be light weight.

A heavy reel will just be a problem.

So many variables. You might want to add the fish your after..Bream, flathead, Jacks?

I had a video up a while ago, and I landed a 55cm Grunter on a 1-3kg with a 2500 rod, running 8lb braid.

So the fish did not have a chance with 8 lb and a 2500.

else go light with a 1000 if your looking for finesse fishing for bream.

edit: I recommend going into a tackle shop with your rod and fitting a few to the rod, the one that feels best is the one you want,,lol/

cheers

Thanks for advice fellas. Rod is for breaming mainly and I'm leaning towards a 1000. Already have a sienna 1000 and it feels nice on it but thinking of stepping up a little.

I guess the consensus seems to be take it in and test it :)

Mate,

Ive got a T-Curve Tournament 6'6 (I think) 3 Piece 2-5 kg spin, and it's matched with a Stradic CI4 2500. I reckon it's great, weight is perfect and it's a dream to cast small hardbodies with all day, won't wear ya down. Also, having a drag system that can run up to 7kg on such a small reel might be handy, should a jew take a liking to a bream minnow B)

My two cents

stradic 1000

all the glittery bits shimano adds, for the added price i am not too keen on my own ci4 if i had my time again. a well balanced combo will negate a lot of the weight and it's so smooth and good for what you get.

budget will be a good guide here too. the stradic is a fantastic value money for reel though and you can't really go wrong with it.

sol 2000 all the way. I am a daiwa fan though, & probably bias towards this brand. cant recommend shimano, as my 2500 sienna combo shat itself after the first day I used it. both rod & reel broke after my first fishing trip to nudgee beach. lost my first 60+ flatty on s.p after spitting the hooks. the reel drag shat itself, the reel seat screw broke. returned both for refund.
