Canal Fishing

Scope

Recommended Posts

Hey guys - Anyone got any canals they'd recommend for bream? Don't want anything specific, just a general area.

Looking to expand horizons and give the bow-mount a good work out

Also - what are the legalities on this kind of fishing?

Cheers - Jono

Nerang, paradise point and sovereign island canals all hold good fish. Just gota put in the effort to find what tides are the best. No real legalities I think but I always try not to tangle on ropes, hit boats with jigheads etc..... Haven't been asked to stop fishing a pontoon before but just leccy off if you are.

cheers

Scope, the area west of the Bundall Bridge on the Gold Coast is full of Bream. Office workers feed them during the week. There are stacks around the pontoons near the Telstra buildings and City Rowers Pub. But, it's near the racecourse and water treatment works, so I would be practicing catch and release here. Still good fun. Good luck.

Sorry tried to attach Google map but it didn't work.

all canals will hold bream along the rock walls i would just pick one closest to where you live and give it a bash then during the warmer months the jacks come out to play. another suggestion would be to pick a week day if you get the chance or early and late in the day when there is less to no traffic

good luck
