reel size to rod

I'd suggest running a 3000 sized reel, spooled with maybe 12 Pnd braid, although I like to fish as light as possible. Should be plenty of power in a combo like that, although the drag on a 3000 symetre won't like being cranked up tight for two long, I have a 2500 myself and it gets a bit grabby when ya have to crank it up a bit

I don't think you can mate, it might be worth spending a bit more and going for a stradic or something similar if ya wish to do some really serious fishing with the combo. All up to you bud, but the symetre should last a while

ended up buying the 4-7kg raider with the 3000 stradic mate, got 10lb Fins with it.

if you can save up for it, go a stradic. a 3000 size reel last i checked, was a 2500 with a deeper spool, so try it and a 4000 on the rod and see what feels better for you. basically you are deciding what you need more of, line capacity or weight.

line rating, i usually get two spool reels so use line at the lightest and heaviest the rod is rated for. if i expect nasty potential line busting country i would go a bit heavier, but rarely need it, like Mr Felix.
