queensland first luderick.

headed out today to try our luck up one of the canals at golden beach. after an hour of trowling, flicking and nothing to show for it, i gave up and headed to one of my favourite spots to flick some sp's. but again not much was happening there either with only one flathead landed

the water was very clear which might have been the reason for the lack of fish.

so we headed up river for a trowl where the water is not as clean. didn't take long to hook up and to my surprise it was a rather healthy luderick measuring 47cm

quick pic and release and back to it. a few flathead were coming boat side and mostly measured around 40cm-50cm. did manage a 67cm model which gave me some currie next to the boat as it was taking some good runs everytime it saw the net

a bream was next to fall victim to the grey ghost. prob around 25cm mark. a few more flathead followed and then it was time to head off.

ended up with 9 flathead, caught on a micro mulet and a halco combat which i found at the stanley river. the luderick and bream were caught on micro mullet.

Mate that Luderick is a stonker!

I have only caught 2, wierdly both on plastics in the Brunswick River but I have always thought they good hard for their size. Nice report.

yeah guys the luderick went hard, i thought it was a trevally. when i seen it, it was on it's side and thought it was little ray. then one of the kids screamed, "it's a fish" i think they were more excited than me, (haha so funny ya had to be there).
