I suffer from the dredded seasickness (is that one word or two?) and have tried all the differant remidies avalible. What I dont like is the dry mouth bit I get from Kwells, and Travel Clam. I lashed out and got some of the ones that ET pushes on his show from the Bova chemist in Sydney, The cost a bit more but are suposed to be the ducks nuts, so I will give them a go and let all know.

Hey Azza,

I am weakling when it comes to sea sickness as well. I don't throw up I just feel like I want to die. The one time I actually threw up I took a prescription remedy which made me feel worse.

Kwells work perfectly for me. If they work for you and its only the dry mouth that bothers you just take a packet of lollies to suck on and make sure you have one in your mouth all day, drink plenty of water with the odd beer thrown in.

I would be curious to find out what the active ingredients is in the ET ones.

Hey guys, I use a anti histermin called polarimine over the counter job and they seem to work for me.

I went out with tugger and malcolm, one was spewing and one wreaching and i was ok,so they must be good, i think all the piss the night before had something to do with it. :X

Me Too! well only sometimes!

It's weird....when I am in the Bay I am fine even on rough days but the two occasions I have gone deep/outside I have felt green as! N :S

No shame in popping a pill....

Just remember take it an hour BEFORE you head out and drink heaps of water the night before.

I had the misfortune of peddling out to the pin at Caloundra one day and on the way there I started to feel crook...so I get out to the pin and Paublo missus who was also out ther on a yak and was feeling crook gave me a two kwells...

BAD MOVE!!! Half way back I was projectile spewing and I was using the hole in my Hobie as a long drop for the exhaust port!!! which in turn made me spew more! by the time I got back to the ramp I looked like Casper!

pop dem pills I say!

for what it's worth.........try taking one of yr kwells or travallcalm as you go to bed the night before, then again as you head off......just helps keep it in yr system a bit better

but as the saying goes with seasickness.......for first hour you think you're going to die.....after that, you're afraid you're not!!

Just an up date on the tabs from Bova chemist, cause I remembered to take one this time out. Well I took one about an hour befor launching and we headed out to Cape Moreton to do a bit of whale spotting, got a great show too. The conditions outside were not as forecast and it was a bit untidy, the sort of stuff that would have me burlying up in about 15mins. The worked a treat there was a slight dry mouth, but nothing like Kwells or travelcalm. There was no drowzyness and none of that zonked out feeling and not a hint of seasickness. All in they are spot on and if you dont like the other treatments I would give these a go

cheers

Thanks Azza, found this on a site it may help some people I'm going to give them a call and try them

The Story Behind Escape Seasick Capsules -

by Nick Bova, of Nova Compounding Chemists

Three years ago, ET walked into Bova Chemist and sheepishly asked for something to cure his seasickness.

The pharmacist showed him everything available on the market. Unfortunately, ET had already tried the products available and they had either made him drowsy or just didn't work for him.

For ET, being drowsy or seasick on a fishing show is not an option. Luckily, Bova Compounding Chemist specalises in the preparation of tailor-made pharmaceuticals, so ET and the head compounding pharmacist sat down and discussed what they thought he needed and what would work for him.

They narrowed the formulations down to three products. After much testing on the water, they found a formulation that cured ET's seasickness.

From there, ET was so impressed with the formulation we had come up with, and now fearless to face the open seas, he told all his television team about them. So all his crew called Bova chemist and purchased the same formulation that had worked so well for ET.

After they had similar results, we were confident that this formulation could work for more than just ET. So with the help of ET telling many people about it, and the positive word of mouth that very quickly spread through the fishing fraternity, Bova chemist was helping thousands of people. And Escape Seasick Capsules were born!

Over the last 3 years, Bova chemist has fielded thousands of calls from people requiring something that could allow them to enjoy a day out on their boat without worrying about ruining their day and everyone else's, by being sick.

As motion sickness is not selective to the ocean, Bova Chemists have found that all sorts of motion sickness have been helped by our formulation. From those who suffer on bus trips, cars, planes - even scuba divers had reported they'd found a formulation to help prevent their motion sickness.

The sea sickness formulation is made at Bova Chemist in specially designed labs.

To order your own Escape Seasick capsules, just Ph: 1300 SEASICK and speak directly to one of the pharmacists at the chemist. They will ask some questions to ensure the seasick capsules are suitable for you.

The capsules are then prepared individually, to ensure that each person gets the attention they require. bottle_tablet.jpg

I recall MythBusters doing their usual punishing real life diagnosis on this topic. And in the end they discovered that Ginger was the only proven 'thing' to prevent sea sickness or motion sickness. They don't know the science behind it, but they proved it to be the winner. I'm feeling green just talking about it :X

i have never been seasick but i worked on prawn trawlers long enough to have seen quite a few green people, there was a seasickness remedy that th eold fisho's used and it is as simple as eating the skin on green apples then throw the rest in the water and dont take your eyes off it until it out of site and by that time your seasickness is gone,I dont know why but I have never seen it fail

I'm a scuba diver as well and the last two trips turned out to be very expensive

Could not dive due to fatigue from heaving my guts out

was told no alcohol the night before - yes that is harsh

and to take kewls at least an hour or two before you are on the water

might have saved me $$$$

would be interested in hearing the reports on ET's stuff

I get sea sick in a bath tub

cheers

In the Navy we get a tablet called avomine. Works a treat but does make you a little bit drowsy. Dunno if you can get them on civvy street though, I reckon you could by prescription from a doc.

looks like you can buy them from the online pharmacy. All you need to do is ring the pharmacist first before the dispatch them.

Avomine is almost the same as Phenergan - same drug different salt. Works fairly well but IMO has more of a drowsy effect than Kwells/Travaclam and more potential to interact with other medication.
