Hey all,

Havent put a report up for a while, been doing a fair bit of fishing as I have had uni holidays. First few sessions around the river were pretty dead and after too many river donuts, decided to start chasing other stuff. Threadys dont seem to like me very much!

Put in a few breaming sessions down the Goldy and had some great fun with a lot of little ones and few decent 30cm fork bream coming in. Did 2 sessions in a few days and ended up with over 20fish a session which was great. Non stop action for the few hours I spent fishing. Also caught a few small trevally and a couple of flatties. Cranka Shads doing most the damage.

Went away to Yamba (Northern NSW) with some mates to chase Tailor last week and had a ball! Took us a while to work out where they were but once we cracked the pattern they came in pretty thick. Spent a few morning and arvo sessions getting into em but couldnt really get anything big. All were between 40-55cm. Nothing small, but nothing big either. Also got a couple of little bonito.

Was hoping to get into some of the larger 5kg+ models that they get fairly often down there, but it didnt happen. Lost a couple of GTs due to the rocks. Fishing 30lb braid and 60lb leader is still no match to sharp rocks and big surf! All the fish were caught on 40gram metals.

Also saw a dead whale on one of the headlands.. had been there for over a week according to the locals.. Sure smelled nice :S

Got back from Yamba on Friday and went for a session to the Pin with a mate on Sunday and got stuck into a lot of bream. Again nothing huge but was good fun.

Also managed this guy on 6lb braid and 3lb leader. Had me down to a few meters of line.. Put up a great fight! :woohoo:

Thanks guys.

Chris- Got the jacket from the columbia store. Its great. Windproof/waterproof and very warm.

Got back from the Tweed Comp today. Continued my recent fishing success with my 2nd ABT Win :woohoo: Im stoked!

It was a very tough comp and apart from brief periods during each day where I managed to get my fish, it was very hard fishing.

Cheers! :cheer:

Thanks Angus,

Yamba is definitely perfect for the estuary fishermen. One of the locals told us some guys were catching jacks while we were down there! Apparently clarence river is Jew central, saw a lot of locals targetting them off the rocks.

Some great fish on offer down there thats for sure!

Funnily enough, going back there for next weekends Clarence River ABT. Would have loved to go down for a few extra days and do some fishing off the rocks but its back to uni and as it is I will be missing the first lecture for one of my subjects! Haha.

Hopefully I can keep this form going into next weeks comp.

Cheers
