Yea I was suprised at how consistent in size they were and biting in red hot ambushes!

And all this after a weekend of pro fishing and ski boat racing on the river.

I am keen for a few days back there if anyone else is thinking about heading down sometime to try the area?

Looks like a top trip mate with some good fish. Hacienda Holiday park at Chindera is a top location for anyone interested. You can camp right on the water and fish off the bank, or get a cabin with a mini mariner berth.

And here is the map from the GPS. Basically just drifted along the mangrovy mud bank in the bottom left which was only 5 minutes from where I was staying.

And as for the author shot, I am getting on in years now so tried the ol' vaseline on the lens trick to 'soften my features' :-)

Didnt see the inside of the waterfront marina cabins, but they have a shared pontoon and jetties which is gated. The park has its own boat ramp and potoon so I tied up for lunch and then back out in the afternoon no worries at all. Turning is a little tight in the park, but manageable. I have marked a map here with some idea cabins and site numbers for when I go back there.

They have a 7 berth cabin which is 2 cabins joined with a deck, with double and sofa bed in 1, and double and bunks in the other. For $137 a night off season, its a bargain for a group of 4 blokes...... I would be in!
