Since I am working this weekend I went out for a quick solo fish on the Pine today. Thought I'd try something I haven't really done before so gave drifting a go. Not easy in a runabout but I got the hang of it.

I sent out a large prawn on a circle hook and started throwing some plastics as well. The wind wasn't too strong to start with but when it did freshen it was blowing opposite to the tide to it was a slow drift which worked really well.

The prawn wasn't touched but I picked up these 6 fillets using SPS. It was one of the best flattie fishing days I have had for a while. I boated 6 all up with the other 3 only just under so there is some quality fish about. The gun SP today was Gulp pumpkinseed 4 inch minnow. Not bad for 3 hours work.

Deepwater bend today because of the tide but Bald hills boat ramp is okay for tinnies at higher water. There's a ramp at Dohles Rocks also.

nice work mate... i agree drifting in a runabout can be a bit of a pain but i've found it the most effective way of fishing as well.

What did you use and is that some sort of technique doing 3 holes or was you just making sure they were dead?.

6 flatties on sp's in 3 hrs not bad and 3 of them good eating size keepers .

got to be happy with that and a nice feed ,the old flattie goes down well.

drifting is how i usually target flatties .

i like the drift fishing ,a constant change of scenery .

The damn things wouldnt stop flapping around. Would have been better off with a .22

A lot better than we did in the Pine on Saturday. Caught about 10 pike is all. They were a heap of fun though. Caught them on plastics as well.
