Hope Island - Bridge session 16th July

Evening all,

Went for a bit of a soak near the bridge on hope island road, just past the B.P.

Arrived as the tide was pushing out, HARD. Sent out some big baits on the Seajigger for Rays, sharks or jew but just couldn't fight through the crabs. They were in plague proportions, and let go everytime they get near the surface. Butterflied yakkas reduced to skelatons in minutes. Not happy jan :(

Once the tide slowed and begun to ebb, I downsized my hook size to a 1/0 from the snelled 4/0s and threw a few strips of bonito around for a smaller ray or similar. After some thumper hits, I ended up landing several bream, biggest going roughly 30cm.

Unfortunatley, 30 Pound braid kind of takes the fun out of it

On the positive side, all fish were brought to the bank quickly and released full of life, 5 in total for the night.

Severe lack of anything grey and toothy but... B)

I was fishing close there the same day, I must've found the nursery. Nothing over 10cm :(

The bigger fish seem to be really wary during 'daylight' hours there, never caught any bigger ones between roughly 9am and 5pm. That area does cop a flogging but. A rising tide during the night seems to be the go
