Hi guys

I did the usual thing this morning with the kids (Rugby) and got home around 11.30. The weather was awesome and I finally got up the energy to take the kids out to Vicky point and onto MaCleay Island for a fish. We anchored up on a likely looking spot and out went the lines. I have some dead small mullet from the day before and put them out on a line. The kids start pulling the regular 15 to 20+ squire and small bream which keep them busy for hours.

The mullet rod went whack and I was on with a good fish only to have knot failure. DOH!!!!. I rerigged and got it out there again. Before to long I was on again just to have knot this time fail on the swivel. By this time I was more than annoyed and glad the kids where happy doing there thing. I rerigged again, checked all the knots and set it out again. In the mean time Jacob hooks up on a prawn and starts yelling for help. He pulls in a nice 38cm snapper his best ever.

My rod goes off and I land my PB snapper, 43cm. Very stoked now after the knot failures. Declan then hooks up on his line with a weird fight and pulls a nice squid. He was stoked and could not stop saying "but it tried to eat squid".

I set out another mullet and it kept getting whacked but it was not setting the hook. Meanwhile Declan starts yelling and he has a great fight on his hands on his light rod and pulls in a nice 33cm Tuskfish. By this stage the boys are beaming and yelling "This is the best day ever Dad?

I threw out my other rod with a pillie and before I could get it setup correctly Declan and Jacob where fighting so I left it hanging probably a couple of metres off the bottom. I attend to the kids when the rods starts to race across the floor. Declan grabs it and pulls in a 41cm Snapper after a good fight.

Soon after the Mullet went off again and I pulled in another 40cm snapper. After that it started to slow down. But all of us went home really excited and satisfied.

This was on top of the day yesterday I had fishing the Logan with my Brother having pulled out 7 flatty for the day keeping 3, best 58cm. The Taylor where chopping up every where but small. I only got one over 35cm.

Going out again tomorrow with the boys - Life is good :PDSC_0003small.jpgDSC_0008small.jpgDSC_0006small.jpgsnapper_008.jpg

Thanks Guys - We head out again today to our new Spot X at MaCleay and we had some more fun. It was a little slow at first but they came on the bite again at the change of the tide in the afternoon. Declan pulled in an other 33 cm Tusky at first and Jacob continued to give the bream a hard time and pulled in a 27cm one.

In the morning when things where slow Jacob had difficulty keeping his bait in the water and soon discovered that he could catch Pike on a slow retrieve and he had a good hour of fun.

At the end of the day we landed 3 x 31 to 35cm Tusk fish, 1 x 27cm Bream, 1 x 31 cm Moses perch and 2 x 45cm Taylor and many many under size fish

This has been a great three days of fishing.

Cheers Ted and thanks for reading. fishing_001.jpgfishing_004-20100718.jpg
