just curious if anyone has any instructions and know-how on decarbing your outboard and can you use a vehicle carby cleaner? thinking of doing this and seeing if it works before having to take it to a mechanic to have the carby pulled apart and cleaned? thanks.

mmmm i properly tuned engine and good quality oil and fuel with correct ratio shouldnt get any build up. if there is more then one carby on the out board (most engines with more then one cylinder) the big thing is having them tuned working together and cleaning one better then other can cause them to be out of sync. this is particulary not good as you can end with a thermal diffrence between the 2 causing more wear.

simply put carbies should always be serviced but shouldnt need throttle cleaner chemicals put down it to fix anything if the motor is tuned correctly.
