Hey all,

I'm gonna try and make this a short report as I know I can dribble a fair bit when its a long day.

Started on Friday night with a new 120amp hour AGM battery and CTEK charger installed. Thanks to Kriso for helping me install and Flexo for helping with the Battery :)

I was planning to use my current battery as a 2nd one for my electrics but we found when I pulled it out to put the new one in... that I should have been topping it up with water... no wonder it wasn't holding charge... it was bone dry and the contacts were bulging... off to the tip with that one and another order for another battery.

Anyway... up and at 'em at 430am, my brother and StinkyIbis were rolling and making our way down. A bit of a discussion about where to launch and the back of Surfers was chosen.

Launch and fire up the engine... it conks out after maybe 5 or 10 seconds... turn it over again.. and it conks out again. Fire it up again with a bit of throttle... same thing. Check the fuel, check the little air knob thingy, check I've primed the fuel line... basically check the little amount of stuff I know... and its not working...leccy all day it is.

So anyway... it was a tough day. Nothing all morning. I was trying a small 1.5' unweighted paddletail thing...to see if it would entice a surface strike...nothing. An hour later and nothing boated I turn to a bubblepop25 and first cast I get strikes... long story short no connections.

A stack of small flatties and a few nice bream were all we got all day long. We leccy'd from 6am till 330pm when we got back against wind and current.. and I still had 2/3's of the battery left... AWESOME.

Don't have some of the photos as they're on my other camera but here are some...

oh yeah.. finally got to use my new rod and reel. 6 months in the making.... custom 7'5 rod, with Matagi parts and the new Fuji titanium "k" guides... on my Stella 100PGSDH... man this thing casts an unweighted plastic like a dream.

oh yeah.. and another thing... a bream sharted in StinkyIbis's mouth... AHahahaha.. sorry bro. It was funny as though.

anyway... here's some of the pics. Got the fight of this big bream on video.. will eventually load it up :)DSC__2017_AFO-20100719.jpg

Keen-as... Launched at the ramp on Fitzwilliam St. Its right inside the canals and the carpark has been pretty much empty everytime I've done the early run. Very small carpark but I've never seen it full.

Gus - caught the big bream on a tiny as, very low gauge jighead.. I think its a gamakatsu cobra/viper??? can't remember what its called but its tiny... on a 2" prawn coloured powerbait... very oldschool. We could see them but they wouldn't touch anything .. so I went right down. It seems to do the trick with the Goldy canal bream.

Ted - man... I reckon I'd be going on 15-20hours. We went against wind and current 70% of the time... It was just powering on. It'll get a good test at SOO.

Thanx for a great day out n the water Henry. We did eventually get onto a few and I learnt a few of the finer points of your pontoon fishing. I'll keep your secret lure on the low okay. Best topwater "searching" lure I've ever seen, it really can put them on the bite ;) One of those bream really did get the best of me it left a foul taste in my mouth!!
