Daiwa Caldia 2500/06

Looking at purchasing a Daiwa Caldia for the missus for use as a light bait/spin reel

It's within my budget and is packed with features, plus you can purchase 'aftermarket' parts from daiwa, which I think is a bonus.

Just one question.

Has anyone used one of these reels in either the 2500 or 2506 size? If so, are they a good reel for the money?

To be used for light spin (h/bs, s/ps poppers etc) and bait work probably with a team daiwa saltwater rod.

nice looking reels. for rcs part u can use 2506 spool and pretty much m and s size knob. however i do prefer the sol over caldia. with the spare spool. i have had couple of my mates who had the caldia with the line roller stuffing up. two of my friends both have them and have had the same problem. just to let you know

Hey mate, I don't have a 2500 or 2506 but I do own one of the new caldia 3000 reels. When I saw it I just had to get it. Mine works perfectly, I use it on a 4-7kg medium spinning rod for working bigger plastics and blades which so far has only really caught me bream and flathead which I could have caught on my light gear but has worked well all the same. You're right in the fact it is loaded with features at a great price and as a real four reel I feel I can trust it. It is generally the same as a daiwa sol, but is sexier, I reckon. I think the 2500 and 3000 have max drag of 7kg, while the 2506 has 3kg, which is fine for light spinning. IMO if any lady were to pick she would pick the 2506 cos it has the cool handle and I like that style for comfort. You can customize and get different spools and handle knobs but for a budget concerned angler which this reel is aimed at it is expensive. For example, if I wanted to change my handle knob to the cool saltiga type one it is like 80 bucks just for the knob on motackle. Still, I have considered it..
