Attraction Colours

depending on species of fish of course,

but i like to use mainly whites/clear natural colours, as a lure maker I have access to plenty of colours and I've done best on the natural ones. Of course there are the exceptions, flathead for example I've found like all sorts of bright colours, same deal with estuary cod.

Been a while since i've specifically targetted bream on lures but the natural tones are what I did best on and I get a few as bycatch on natural whites/silvers

cheers

Yeah I try and stay natural in the clearer water and when the sun is high. Very rarely get the fluro colours out anymore. In saying that though I still keep a few packs round for when the occasion arises.

I do like the more natural hardbodies and plastics though.

personally i like blondes, brunettes and redheads. oh wait, what's the topic?

personally i think fish see a silhouette more, especially in murkier water. you know that thing you can do with light where you put it through a prism and it splits it up into the ROYGBIV spectrum, water absorbs light starting at the red end of the spectrum. so twenty meters down, red is just a grey.

the glow aspect of some gulp colours will come into play as well.

i have heard anecdotal evidence that certain fish wise up to colours, like bream with banana prawn shrimp, but then would take an older colour quite readily in hard fished areas.

the general consensus amongst quality fishing guns is to go natural in clearer water and dark or really bright colours in the dirtier stuff or at night. and always try match the local bait.
