Going to hit the mouth of the river in a couple of weeks, launching from fishermans island and heading for the sunken wall and poo chute.

Is there anywhere i can catch livies with a cast net, herring or prawns,im not sure whats about this time of year never gathered livies in the river before.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Bri.

Usually a few around the ramp at fishos, or if the tide is in, head around behind the tug station. There is a small creek there and there always seem to be bait fish schooling around the entrance. I have heard that people castnet around the poo shoot as well, but I am am too shy of all the snags in that area.

Good luck.

the poo chute is safe for your net if you drop back about 20-50mtrs from the very end of the chute, i all ways seem to get heaps of gar and silver biddies and blue herring. poddy mullet i chase around the entrance of boggy creek in the shallows. as well as prawns.

say you launch at fishos - go under the bridge and straight, once you reach the t-junction of the main channel go at a slight angle to your right and it runs paralell to the beach there

thanks for that mate, I always wondered where it was...cheers Beejay

launch at fishos go under boat passage - once u hit that t-intersection go right. head up the channel and the poo chute's on your left hand side. Concrete thing that comes out from the land a bit..

Follow the pipeline til it ends then go up a little more and its on your left.

Hope that helps

hey wes , when you say back about 20 - 50 metres do you mean back down the river way our back out from the poo shute itself?

you might not be able to go under the bridge on wednesday from the fisherman island ramp with the closure like for a few days around then with construction works on the new bridge. i would suggest the comslie ramp and you can get livies around there easily onj the pontoon next to the ramp. what species of fish will you target ?

Like to have a few livies in the well in case we target tailor or a jewie, threadie.

Are you saying that ramp will possibly be closed,so use the ramp at comsile,is that the best ramp coming from the gold coast.

Cheers

the fishos ramp isn't closed but they will have the bridge works on so you can't pass under and access the river so the best bet is comslie for you as its not far from the motorway. the comslie ramp is good and you can get livies there easily with some good fishing options close
