Looking for some feedback on oils for 2 strokes. Have been using Quicksilver, but when in a BCF the other day the only premium type oil they had was Gulf.

Do different brands of oild make a big difference? I'm trying to care for my new engine like a first born, so want to make sure its going to be looked after well.

with oils its pretty simple you get what you pay for. stay away from the if you run this oil you can change your ratio to this instead of whats specified by the manufacturer. i havent heard from anyone that quicksilver is a poor oil, i prefer the castrols and shell's though. make sure its proper outboard 2 stroke oil too not stuff for lawn mowers etc .

I used to use Shell Nautilus on my 90hp Mercury but changed to Quicksilver after hearing several reports of Nautilus gumming up outboards. Never happened to me but thought better safe then sorry as I do a fair bit of trolling.

You should be able to get quicksilver form any mercury dealer.

I've heard that mixing oils can damage the motor. Don't know how true this is, if at all. When I first bought my boat I was using quicksilver but struggled to find it so changed to shell nautilus. Didn't notice much of a difference.
i have heard this too,if your looking for quicksilver oil springwood marine stock it.

Most manufacturers recommend TC3W outboard. All the oil majors have oils with formulas that comply. Yamalube was and still may be a rebrand of Caltex super outboard motor oil.

On everything if you do change oils it pays to drain well then flush with some of the new oil as some additives can be incompatable.
