Daiwa Luvias Rods

Ok, last time I tried to write a thread asking 'what should I buy' it was a disaster, so please bear with me if this one is as bad.

I went to tackle warehouse the other day to try several rod and reel combos (1-2kg) range, with the intention of this combo serving as a 'bream' rod only. Therefore, it would be throwing small plastics, hard bodies and poppers/stickbaits.

I have settled on a reel (Luvias Custom DA), however after looking through the loomis rod rack and nearly dying at the price tags (yes, I know, you get what you pay for), I found the Daiwa Luvias range.

My question is, is there any major differences between the Luvias and The Luvias R range? I'm willing to go to about $450 on a rod, so the Luvias seems a pretty good fit B)

One I'm looking at is the Ultra Light, 7'1 2-6 Pnd model.

Has anyone had experience with these rods? They feel great to me, just after opinions

Please don't hurt me :silly:

Hey man... There are heaps of good Loomis's for under $450. Just dont shop for them in BCF.. I have a Luvias rod and reel though and am very happy with it.. Mine is a 6-10lb though and is the lightest rod I own.. I thought the 4-8 was a little buttery in the tip for my liking.. I like fast action rods. I do bugger all Breaming though so if you plan to Bream the 4-8 might be the go. My 6-10 though is a wicked rod for Bream, small Trevs, Flathead, light to medium fishing.. I personally have no technical knowledge of what differenciates the Luvias from a more expensive Loomis in technical terms.. Kinda like hot chicks and ugly chicks with good bodies though - they all feel the same in the dark  If you get a Luvias get it from ray n annes though - $229 you cant beat that $hit!

Might have to give it a try, although I doubt any of the stores I frequent would drop, say, a Luvias 1-2 Kg flick stick, from $395 odd down to $230 odd.

You got the seajigger then? Have you matched a reel to it yet?

Also, has anyone any ideas on delivery times from Rayannes to QLD?

pick up tomorrow, matched to a 3000cy with 8 pound finns, at the moment, or 2500r certate with 20 pound, see which balances better.

get as many quotes as you can, then hit up your local tackle shop, sure you wont get big price drop, but they should price match. dont expect that kind of drop in price, as you mentioned, it just wont happen. cheers

You're not the only one mate, believe me. That's an absoloute steal. Might actually have changed my mind on the reel, but still keen on the luvias rods. Might have to pay full price. Bugger B)

Might pair it up with a Caldia yet
