Well I still hope no-one falls for the old Labor trick of promising the world to win an election. How many of the promises Labor made at the last election have been done/finished or even been started for that matter!! Now listening to Gillard promise this and that and this and that you would think that this is a Government with alot of surplus to spend. Have they forgotten how much debt they have got us into? Do people realise that this debt needs to be paid back? this means our taxes (along with the miners) will all go up!

anyway hope Liberals get in so we can get the economy back in control (and keep fishing)

Two things I am really happy about! - This is taken from the Liberals website

Real action to protect our marine environments and fishing communities

A Coalition government will take immediate action to ensure that future Marine Protected Areas balance environmental preservation with economic growth and strong coastal communities.

The Coalition supports a balanced approach to marine conservation and will immediately put on hold the Marine Bioregional Planning process. We will then restructure this process, in consultation with the community and industry, within the first year of government.

When previously in government, the Coalition began the process of establishing Marine Protected Areas around Australia's coastline. Marine Protected Areas are intended to protect and maintain biologically and culturally significant marine areas.

Since its election, the Rudd-Gillard Government has not adopted a balanced approach to Marine Protected Areas, nor has it engaged in appropriate consultation with the community and the fishing industry.

This has led to unnecessary anxiety and uncertainty in the fishing industry. Many communities will face enormous economic losses unless there is proper and effective consultation on future Marine Protected Areas, particularly in relation to fishing practices in these Areas.

The Coalition will also require future decisions on Marine Protected Areas to consider peer reviewed scientific evidence of threats to marine biodiversity and for this evidence to be made available to all stakeholders, including affected communities and industries.

In establishing Marine Protected Areas, the Coalition will consult closely with those people and industries who use the marine environment, including the recreational and commercial fishing sectors, to determine Marine Protected Area management plans in accordance with relevant legislation and other regulatory frameworks.

The Coalition will take the action necessary to make decisions on Marine Protected Areas fair, considered and balance environmental and cultural preservation and also considers the needs of fishing industries and coastal communities.

and

Moreton Bay rail link

A Coalition Government will deliver the Moreton Bay Rail Link.

Given today’s announcement regarding the Moreton Bay Rail Link, the Coalition has decided to bring forward its own announcement in relation to this project.

A Coalition Government will invest $750 million towards major construction works on this project.

This funding will be made available from AusLink 3, commencing in 2014-15.

Unlike Labor, the Coalition has a track record of commitment to this project.

At the last state election the Liberal National Party made a firm commitment to deliver the Moreton Bay Rail Link.

At the time, the Queensland Labor Government ridiculed the LNP’s promise - and opposed the project.

The Coalition welcomes Labor’s decision to adopt LNP policy on this important piece of infrastructure. We note that the Moreton Bay Regional Council has committed $105 million towards the project although we do not believe that local government should be expected to make such a contribution to the project.

While Queensland Labor’s economic mismanagement means that the Queensland State Budget is in poor shape, an elected Coalition Government will negotiate with the State Government of Queensland and with the Moreton Bay Regional Council about their contribution to the project.

Given State Labor’s previous lack of support for this project and Premier Bligh’s appalling track record of broken promises, the Coalition believes that the election of an LNP State Government is necessary to guarantee delivery of this project.
