Sambo and Pelagic Rods

I have a Sambo JigKing jigging rod, but i ave not used it for its intended purpose yet (jigging - have used it trolling a couple of times)

I will say this though - i had one sent to me from the delaer via ebay and the grips were mounted slightly askew to the guides, so the reel seat didnt quite line up.

Took a couple of pics, emailed it to the dealer and was replied to very quickly and a new rod sent to me no questions asked.

The original rod i still have and there's no reason it's not useable, it's just that the reel seat and guides are just slightly not aligned so it's annoying more than anything (but yeh you wouldnt want the beast of a lifetime to load it up ! )

So their customer service is A1 in my books.

Nice to know they look after their customers Yoyo.

The rods look nice enough on ebay but seem a bit pricey for virtually unknown brand gear. For similar money entry level shimano or daiwa rods can be had or even mid range penn or pfleuger or similar brands.

It would be worth chatting to Bed Derecki on this forum who distributes Lemax in Australia. All the lemax rods I have seen have been very nice and the quality flawless.

unfortunatly they arnt on sale anymore and are back to thier rrp which is $100 for the tournment rods and $80 for the plastix. they are a great rod, however at they same price you might be better off grabbing the berkly dropshot. its right next to the plastix rods and they are $100.

good luck

I bought a pelagic 7' 8-12 kg overhead for snapper and a 6' 6kg carbon fibre baitcaster off ebay. I have caught a few medium sized fish on both of these rods. The blanks seem OK but I haven't tried them on really big fish. The actions of the blanks are good for their purpose.

Bindings are well done, but I gently pulled the butt cap off the snapper rod looking for a gimbal only to not find one, i.e. no gimbal and cap not glued on very well.

The hardware is not up to fuji standard, with the guide frames on the snapper rod going green after 2 outings despite being washed down carefully back at the ramp. The guides on the baitcaster are doing OK so far. The grips are comfortable but not as durable as quality eva.

They were really cheap so I cant complain too much, and they do catch fish.
