Our weekend started when we packed the car and hooked up the tinny thursday arvo a day earlier then planned.

we got to our camp site at 11.30pm and with the help from a few of the crew members erecting our massive tarp to cover our small tent (i swear we had the smallest tent in the whole camp  )

we had a few drinks and crashed at about 2am with travis pitchin his swag on a slab of dirt under our tarp.

Up early the next morning, put boat in the water, rigged up our lines to fish the unexspected..briefing at 8am and a quick yarn then we hit the water straight away, trolling up and down the river trying to find where the flatties were hiding.

with in half an hour ferg had hooked up to a very healthy trev coming in at 42cm,bummer no catagorie for trev

5 mins later fergie landed himself a very small lizard, which was promising as our motto is "where there's small lizards there has to be whopper not far away"

the river pristine and clear and was chock a block with schools of mullet chomping at the surface,i have never seen so many mullet like that before,i gathered that ment there would be plenty of fish chasing the mullet for a feed.(pity we couldnt cast a net to catch us some bait)

i couldnt believe my eyes  when trolling out front of HQ with my feet dangling over the side of the boat taking in the scenery when i seen what would be 3-4 foot bull shark fin rise above the water, with in a second my feet were back in the boat.

i was soon told that the bullshark was seen bout an hour before i seen it.

i couldnt believe the shark was there considering the depth of the water and how clear it was too.

by lunch i finally landed myself a nice lil flatty at 32cm,took a quick snap of him on the brag mat and let him be on his way, then we headed back to camp for some lunch.

we hit the water again at about 3pm,pumped some yabbies for later and hit up river for a troll, where i landed a 42cm lizard, this was very promising, each lizard landed seemed to be getting bigger and bigger, well so i thought

after an hour or so with not a hit we decided to throw some soft plastics around, with landing a few small bream around the 20 mark.

Thought we'd call it quits and go have a rest, went into town to bait and tackle shop to buy some bait where the old cober behind the counter gave us a few pointers of areas to target, with this info we thought we had hit gold :P

had some dinner and went out for some relaxing bait fishing.

we anchored beside the bridge where we thought looked nice and fishy, baited our hooks and with in minutes we were pulling in the bream every few minutes one of us were on,they were all little but they were also point getters for QLD ;)

they were all between 20 and 30cm.we sat in this spot till about 11pm,heading back to camp we could see half the crew where up and in party mood,so while i went for a shower and crawled into the tent for a sleep, ian cracked open a rumbo and went for a drink with the crew, arriving back at our site at 2.30am.

Up early saturday morning and hit the water for what looked like a productive day ahead of us..but to our horror it was a slow one,not much was landed with a heap of lizards dropping at the side of our tinny :( frusteration took hold,so we changed the hooks on our lures and headed towards the mouth, with passing the bridge i threw out my trusty grey ghost just before the oyster farm when smack, something seemed very interested in my old faithful,a couple of second past when smack again my line started to peel,i thought i was on to a stonker lizard, with a few cheers from myself and ian i seen silver sparkle through the water,it was no lizrad,it was a hefty bream and by far my PB,got him aboard threw him on the brag mat and was gobsmacked "39.6cm" unbelievable i caught him on my grey ghost which has only ever caught me flathead in the past,i was cheerin but tried not to get my hopes up with it being a place getter.

back at camp i told a few people bout my bream and believe it or not he was the biggest so far by a cm anyway :woohoo:

that night we hit the bridge again with the smae out come as the night before, bream after bream, about 15-20 were caught with us giving up taking photo's for point getters.

(now i wished we took pictures of every single fish as for sure with the amount we caught we would have had a chance to win that beautiful carved out flathead trophy :(

had a few drinks crashed at 3am only to wake 3 hours later for a last minute fish

landed a few nice lizards over the 30cm mark, but could not land a monster to compete against the 80+cm caught the previous day (congrats rob what a monster :ta: )

at the weigh in,submitted our photo's and went off to pack up camp.

back in time for presentation.

i managed to get first place in the bream cat :woohoo: i couldnt believe it,with 70 odd contestants i got first place in something like 140 bream caught :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

congrats to all the competitors who won a place
