After a long wait for my girlfriend to get home from work,we headed down to bullocky rest road crossing to do a bit of fishing,got there bout 4ish and i was a bit sceptical of fish activity seeing that the sun was disappearing.So we fished anyway,and after being slain to the four winds by a shitload of turtles she finally hooked up,after battling for a bit,she pulled a more than decent lungfish out.Ive never seen her smile so much.Was a good day.

i was talkin to some dude and he reckons he didnt know what it was and he took one home and ate it and he said it tastes like shit haha they'd be a good shark bait tho,wouldnt wanna get done using it tho

i havent seen a lung for years seen a few in the mary river but that was ages ago. I thort they were a protected species

They are protected mate, but they are quite a common bycatch when fishing for bass in that area. They'll hit lures as well as bait and you certainly know that a lungy is on the end of your line !!!
